What is the Concord
Community Reuse Project?
Since April 2006, the City of
Concord has carried out a planning process to define the
future
of 5,200 acres of the Concord Naval Weapon Station. Our
emphasis has been on working
with the community to create a successful plan that
benefits Concord and the region. The
new development will include new housing units, jobs,
schools parks, recreational areas and
open space that will benefit all Concord residents,
including those who live in the Monument
Corridor.
Why is this project important to
the residents of the Monument
Corridor?
The Concord Community Reuse project
should matter to all Concord residents because:
-It will bring about significant change and it will
affect the lives of everyone who lives in
Concord.
-It will affect the fiscal future of the City.
-It will attract industry jobs that could benefit current
residents.
-It will increase the choice of housing, recreation and
jobs for Concord residents.
-What happens there could have an impact on the funding
for the redevelopment of the
Monument Corridor.
What is happening now and how can
I participate?
With resident's participation, we
are in the process of selecting among seven land use
alternatives for the site. As part of the selection
process we will be hosting a series of
community workshops. You are welcome to participate in
them and give us your opinion.
The workshop for the Monument Community will take place
on:
May 28th 2008
